A Root-to-Table Experience

At Heavenly Homestead, we are strong believers in regenerative  farming. Regenerative farming places an emphasis on soil health and ecological sustainability. This approach creates a local environment where one section of the system supports another. For example, building healthy soil supports healthy crops and livestock. In turn, the livestock by-product supports the fertilization of the soil and crops. Additionally, regenerative farming's focus on soil health entails prioritizing natural methods of pest and weed control. As a result, there is no use of synthetic chemicals in the growing process. Overall, regenerative farming is a great method of providing truly organic food in a fashion that supports local communities and minimizes environmental harm.

Microgreens

Microgreens are basically baby plants that are harvested 1-3 weeks after germination. They are packed with nutrients and can contain as much as 40 times the nutritional value as their grown up counterparts.

Among literally hundreds of different lettuce vartieties, Salanova lettuce is a unique type of leaf that stands out among its peers. It has been noted for its distinct texture and flavor with the added benefit of an extended shelf life. Salanova lettuce is also known for producing 3-4 times more leaves than standard lettuce.

Russian Orloffs are a stunning breed of chicken with exotic features that differ from some of their more well known cousins. The chickens possess a brown and white speckled coat with the male roosters also sporting large, green tail feathers. Unfortunately, their rather gamey appearance has resulted in them losing out in popularity to other varieties of chickens, causing them to become a critically endangered species. Fortunately, the breed has been receiving more attention from farmers and poultry owners. Russian Orloffs's strong resistance to the cold has also been a selling point to new owners. As a result of their tolerance for low temperatures, they can continue to lay eggs throughout the cold seasons where many other species stop producing.

Pastured chickens are raised in a way that simulates their natural state. They are not kept in warehouses and restricted from free ranging. Their diets are not tainted with the use of GMO products and chemicals. Instead, they live as chickens ought to. They spend their time grazing on fresh pasture eating bugs, grains, and grass. No steroids, antibiotics, or growth hormones are used in the development process. The result is a all natural, healthy bird with higher nutrition and great taste. Pastured chickens contain higher levels of vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids than other chickens.

Large Brown Eggs

At Heavenly Homestead, we believe that the best eggs come from hens that are free to flap their wings and eat from fresh and natural pastures that are FREE from chemicals, synthetic fertilizers, herbicides and pesticide.
